In recognition of high scholastic attainment, the University, upon recommendation of a major department or program, awards the Bachelor's Degree with Distinction. Distinction is awarded to 15% of the graduating class based on cumulative grade point averages. GPA for Distinction purposes is calculated through Winter Quarter for each graduating class. Distinction is awarded at the end of the Spring Quarter for graduates of the Spring Quarter and prior Summer, Autumn, Winter quarters. Students are notified of Distinction on their diploma. Students who are granted Distinction, and have already received their diploma in a prior quarter, will be mailed an updated diploma. The Distinction notation will show on official transcripts after Spring Commencement.

Whitman holds membership in the NCAA 's Northwest Conference ( Division III ) and fields nine varsity teams each for men and women. In 2016 the college adopted the new mascot for the school and its athletes of "the blues," named after the local mountain range. More than 20 percent of students participate in a varsity sport. In addition, 70 percent of the student body participate in intramural and club sport. These sports include rugby union , waterpolo , lacrosse , dodgeball , and nationally renowned cycling and Ultimate teams.

MIT was named a sea-grant college in 1976 to support its programs in oceanography and marine sciences and was named a space-grant college in 1989 to support its aeronautics and astronautics programs. [82] [83] Despite diminishing government financial support over the past quarter century, MIT launched several successful development campaigns to significantly expand the campus: new dormitories and athletics buildings on west campus; the Tang Center for Management Education ; several buildings in the northeast corner of campus supporting research into biology , brain and cognitive sciences , genomics , biotechnology , and cancer research ; and a number of new "backlot" buildings on Vassar Street including the Stata Center . [84] Construction on campus in the 2000s included expansions of the Media Lab, the Sloan School's eastern campus, and graduate residences in the northwest. [85] [86] In 2006, President Hockfield launched the MIT Energy Research Council to investigate the interdisciplinary challenges posed by increasing global energy consumption . [87]

Each MIA Radiology practice is led by a managing radiologist, who oversees the clinical affairs and clinical decision-making of the clinic to ensure that service delivery is tailored to the local needs of referring medical practitioners and patients.

After training in Radiology at St Vincent’s Hospital, Andrew completed three years of post graduate fellowship training at The Middlesex Hospital in London, UK and at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA, specialising in MR, CT & US body imaging, non-vascular intervention and vascular/interventional radiology. He has authored numerous publications, three of which have been subsequently selected for re-publication in the highly regarded Year Book series in Radiology and the Year Book series in Ultrasound.

Andrew has held many administrative and management positions at MIA, Cabrini Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and with the RANZCR.

In 2015, . News & World Report ranked the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles tied for 25th among national universities. USC's School of Cinematic Arts was the first film school established in the United States and includes a number of departments devoted to the study of film and television production, cinema studies, producing and screenwriting, as well as animation and interactive media. Aside from producing, undergraduates can pursue programs in all of the aforementioned fields of study, which lead to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). The critical studies program leads to a Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy (.).
